What is a cyclone spray tower? How does it differ from a regular spray tower?

I. What is a Cyclone Spray Tower?

A cyclone tower, also known as a cyclone spray tower, cyclone hybrid cyclone tower, or cyclone spray device, mainly consists of a cyclone drum, a packing demister layer, a spray layer, a water circulation system, and a water tank. It is a new type of environmentally friendly waste gas purification equipment designed for the pretreatment of industrial waste gas containing sticky dust, oily dust, and fibrous dust, which cannot be handled by dry dust collection equipment.

II. Structural Composition: 

The cyclone hybrid spray tower device is mainly composed of a main cyclone section, a packing demister section, a spray section, and a water circulation section. The material type can be selected according to the type of waste gas. Common materials for the main body of the cyclone tower equipment include 304 stainless steel, 201 stainless steel, and carbon steel.

The cyclone spray tower mainly consists of a two-layer structure: a cyclone layer and a spray layer. The cyclone layer uses parallel cyclone separators to increase the air volume processed, effectively reducing the footprint and equipment height. During operation, dust passes through the cyclone layer, where most of the dust is effectively treated. Residual dust, generally smaller particles, proceeds to the spray layer. The spray layer has packing material to increase the absorption area, where residual dust is effectively absorbed. After demisting, clean gas is discharged. This two-layer design fully utilizes the advantages of packed towers and cyclone plate towers while avoiding their respective disadvantages. It solves the problems of inadequate fine particle handling in cyclone towers and easy clogging in packed towers. The combination of the two makes it suitable for various dust and mist removal scenarios, especially offering significant advantages in removing paint mist and other dust that easily clogs packing materials.

The cyclone spray tower can be made of stainless steel, carbon steel, or PP plastic.

The cyclone spray tower is suitable for waste gas and dust purification in various industrial fields (particularly suitable for: paint mist treatment in painting, dust treatment in grinding and polishing, etc.).

III. Working Principle of Pneumatic Hybrid Spray Tower

During production, the flue gas enters the high-speed mixed-flow guide rail device under the traction of the fan. Under the action of centrifugal force, the flue gas undergoes a gas-liquid emulsification reaction. Under the high-speed rotation of the mixed liquid, pollutants are fully mixed and absorbed by the rotating liquid, increasing the specific gravity of the flue gas. The centrifugal force designed by the cyclone device achieves gas-liquid separation. The separated gas enters the adsorption layer of the environmental protection packing. The corresponding solvent sprayed from the spiral nozzle is evenly distributed on the packing. Due to the reasonable design of the packing, the pollutants are immersed in the packing for a longer time, and there is sufficient time for gas-liquid mixing and reaction with the reaction liquid on the surface of the special environmental protection packing, thereby achieving the purpose of meeting emission standards.

1. Dust from cyclone spray towers can be collected centrally, eliminating the need for frequent water changes, while spray towers require periodic water changes.

2. Cyclone spray towers are square, while spray towers are vertical towers.

3. Cyclone spray towers are primarily used for the pretreatment of sticky and oily dust and waste gas, while spray towers are mostly used for waste gas dust purification and black smoke desulfurization.

4. Compared to spray towers, cyclone spray towers have an additional cyclone-driven dust and waste gas removal device, resulting in better waste gas treatment efficiency, but also a higher price.

5. Cyclone spray towers are generally made of 201 or 304 stainless steel, while spray towers are generally made of materials such as PP, stainless steel, or fiberglass.
